As a physics major at Oxford University, Emily Collins, VP of Kilburn & Strode’s San Francisco’s Liaison office, knew early on that science was her passion, but she also had a unique knack for interacting with people. Patent law allowed her to blend the two into a rewarding career. But the path to success in the highly male-dominated field hasn’t always been a smooth one. In this candid interview, Emily shines a light on the invisible barriers that often hinder the career advancement of women and other underrepresented individuals. She also shares insights on the importance of mental health and why it’s critical for law firms to have open conversations about these issues with the entire staff.
